How does the Goal Planning Calculator work?

It inflates your goal's cost today to its future cost at the end of your chosen tenure, projects your existing savings forward at your expected return, and works out the funding gap between the two. It then shows the monthly SIP or one-time lumpsum needed today to close that gap.

Why does the calculator show both a SIP and a lumpsum amount?

Different investors fund goals differently, some invest a fixed amount every month, others invest a one-time sum when they have surplus cash. Both amounts are calculated to close the exact same funding gap, so a lumpsum invested today at your expected return for your chosen tenure grows into the same amount the SIP would have accumulated.

What happens if my existing savings already cover the goal?

If the projected future value of your existing savings meets or exceeds the future cost of your goal, the calculator shows a 'You are on track!' message with ₹0 additional SIP or lumpsum needed.

How do the goal preset chips work?

Selecting a preset like Child Education, House, Car, Wedding or Vacation updates the goal's default cost and the goal label used in your results, so you can quickly compare different life goals without re-entering every input from scratch.

Why does inflation matter when planning for a future goal?

Inflation steadily increases the cost of goods and services, so a goal that costs ₹25 lakh today could cost significantly more by the time you need the money. Ignoring inflation is one of the most common reasons people under-save for long-term goals.

Can I start investing directly from this calculator?
