The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Calculator helps you estimate the maturity value and interest on an SSY account for your girl child. You enter your yearly investment, the girl's age, and the year you start, and the calculator instantly shows your total investment, the tax-free interest earned, the maturity year, and the final maturity value. It is a quick, free way to plan one of India's most popular government-backed savings schemes for a daughter's future.

What is Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana?

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a government-backed small savings scheme created specifically for the girl child, launched in 2015 under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. It is designed to help parents and guardians build a dedicated corpus for a daughter's higher education or marriage. A parent or legal guardian can open an SSY account for a girl child below the age of 10, at any post office or authorised bank, and deposit between ₹250 and ₹1.5 lakh in a financial year. Because it is government-backed and carries attractive tax benefits, it is one of the most trusted long-term savings options for a daughter.

What is the SSY Calculator?

The SSY Calculator is an online tool that estimates how your yearly SSY deposits will grow over the scheme's tenure. You provide your yearly investment, the girl's age, and the start year, and it returns your total investment, the interest earned, the maturity year, and the maturity value. It handles the scheme's specific deposit-and-growth structure and the annual compounding for you, so you can plan your deposits and see the outcome without doing the maths by hand. The current SSY interest rate is 8.2% per annum (for the July–September 2026 quarter), and the calculator uses this rate.

How Does the SSY Calculator Work?

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has a distinctive structure that the calculator takes care of. You make deposits for the first 15 years from opening the account. After that, you stop depositing, but the balance keeps earning interest, compounded annually, for a further 6 years. The account then matures 21 years after it was opened. So a ₹10,000 yearly deposit means ₹1.5 lakh of contributions over 15 years, and that balance continues to grow until the 21st year. The interest, currently 8.2 per cent, is compounded annually and is a government-declared rate. Because the calculator assumes the rate stays the same throughout, and the government revises it every quarter, treat the maturity figure as a close estimate.

How to Use the Indiabulls Securities SSY Calculator

It takes just a few seconds. Enter the amount you plan to deposit each year (up to the ₹1.5 lakh annual limit), the girl's current age, and the year you are starting. The current SSY rate of 8.2% is applied. The calculator instantly shows your total investment over the 15-year deposit period, the tax-free interest, the maturity year, and the final maturity value, along with a visual split of how much of the corpus is your deposits versus interest.

Benefits of Using an SSY Calculator

  • See the maturity value upfront. Know what your yearly deposits could grow to by the time the account matures.
  • Plan your yearly deposit. Test different amounts up to the ₹1.5 lakh limit to reach a goal for your daughter.
  • Understand the 21-year growth. See how the 6 years of growth after deposits stop add to the corpus.
  • Plan your tax saving. Because SSY qualifies for tax benefits, the calculator helps you plan both savings and tax together.

SSY Calculation Example

Suppose you deposit ₹10,000 a year in an SSY account opened in 2021 for your daughter. Over the 15-year deposit period you would invest ₹1,50,000 in total. With the balance compounding at 8.2 per cent annually for the full 21-year tenure, the account earns ₹3,11,839 in interest, taking the maturity value to ₹4,61,839 when it matures in 2042. Notice that the interest is more than double your total deposits, which shows how a long tenure and annual compounding at a steady, tax-free rate build the corpus.

(This assumes the rate stays at 8.2% throughout; the government may revise it, so the figure is an estimate.)

SSY Tax Benefits

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana enjoys EEE (exempt-exempt-exempt) tax status, which is a major part of its appeal. Your deposits of up to ₹1.5 lakh a year qualify for a deduction under Section 80C (available under the old tax regime), the interest you earn each year is tax-free, and the entire maturity amount is tax-free as well. That means every rupee of interest the calculator shows is yours to keep, with no tax deducted. Note that the Section 80C deduction applies under the old tax regime; under the new tax regime you would not get the deduction, though the interest and maturity remain tax-free.

SSY and Planning for Your Child's Future

SSY is a strong, safe foundation for a daughter's long-term goals, offering a fixed, government-declared, tax-free return with no market risk. Because it earns a fixed rate and locks money in for a long period, some parents pair it with market-linked investments to add growth potential and flexibility. Equity-linked options such as ELSS mutual funds also qualify for Section 80C benefits and have a much shorter lock-in, but their returns are market-linked, not fixed, and carry risk. A common approach is to use SSY as the secure core of a child's education fund and add a mutual fund SIP for the growth portion. The right mix depends on your goals, your timeline, and how much risk you are comfortable with.
